Board Member inducted into National Remodeling Hall of Fame

Congratulations to ACHP Board Member, Clai Porter! He was inducted into the National Remodeling Hall of Fame for his contributions to the remodeling industry. The announcement was made at the NAHB Remodelers’ gala on Oct. 11 during the Remodeling Show in Baltimore.

Porter is the longest continuously serving home builder member in the state of Alaska since 1972, an NAHB Senior Life Director and wa

s named Alaska’s Builder of the Year four times. A founding member of the Cold Climate Housing Research Center, Porter served as chairman of the board for 10 years, encouraging R&D for innovative construction techniques for the Alaskan home. Clai is a member of Alaska Housing Finance Corporations’ Board of Directors and currently serves as Vice Chairman. Porter is politically active in support of housing issues and teaches construction industry classes to the next generation of housing professionals at the University of Alaska.
